Desmos Classroom and Polypad Free and Commercial Use Guidelines

If you want to use Amplify’s tools or content in your work, please review these guidelines to determine if your specific use is allowed and whether you need to submit a request for approval.

Overview

Amplify’s Desmos Classroom platform offers free  pre-built interactive and print-based lessons, interactive lesson building tools, and Polypad virtual manipulatives. See and for more information.

Desmos Classroom features:

  • (Labeled “Custom Activities” in the platform): This content-creating and publishing tool enables educators to create their own interactive lessons and modify existing Desmos Classroom lessons.
  • :This mathematical playground allows students to use interactive tools to explore concepts, be creative, and visualize their thinking. Polypad virtual manipulatives can be embedded directly into lessons via Activity Builder or used as a stand-alone, dynamic workspace.
  • Computation Layer:This tool enables educators to further customize lessons created with Activity Builder. Computation Layer is the code that allows components within the lessons to “talk” to one another, enabling users to connect representations, customize content, and provide dynamic, interpretive feedback. Computation Layer is accessed through Activity Builder.

Desmos Classroom includes activities and lessons across many subjects created by the thousands of educators on our platform. Content created by Amplify personnel is tagged “By Amplify” or “By Desmos Classroom.”

Amplify also publishes Amplify Desmos Math, a paid core program for grades K–12. Amplify Desmos Math can be reviewed and purchased by schools or districts interested in a comprehensive resource that is aligned to standards and is designed to motivate students. Some of the lessons that are free to use on Desmos Classroom (labeled Try It! lessons) are also part of Amplify’s paid math curriculum. Learn more about and request a sample.

Desmos Classroom tools and content are free for personal, educational, and non-commercial use, subject to our Acceptable Use Policy, as well as certain permitted commercial uses further detailed on this page. You generally Dz’t need to submit a request to use our free tools and resources for the permitted purposes covered in these guidelines. As long as you are following our Acceptable Use Policy and these guidelines, as well as attributing properly, go ahead and move forward with your project. But do continue to read these guidelines thoroughly to make sure your use is permitted. If you would like to explore a license for a use not permitted here, please submit this form.

Amplify does not own, but partners with Desmos Studio, the maker of a suite of free math tools, including a graphing calculator used by over 75 million people around the world. See for more information. Please for information on using their content or tools.
